Many of you in Ohio and the Great Lakes region know us simply as Q-net, where we have offered technical assistance and professional development services to Head Start and the early childhood community since 1993. Current projects operated by ECQ-net in Ohio focus on early literacy, school readiness, and emergent content knowledge. Professional development modules developed with support from the Ohio Department of Education provide continuing education credits and optional university credits for all early education and childcare staff, teachers, and administrators. ECQ-net offers Consulting Services and Technology Services to early childhood organizations and agencies at the state, regional, and national levels. Updated Web Site Coming Soon! The ECQ-net Web Site is undergoing some changes and updates. Be on the lookout for new information, new Module content and a new look. Changes are expected to be in place within 1-2 weeks, but continue to check back for updates. If you have any suggestions for the web site, please send them to csnpwebmaster@osu.edu. Any other questions can be sent to Kathy Rider kathryn.rider@ecqnet.org. |
Individualized Education Plan, Curriculum and the Ohio Early Learning Content Standards (IEP)This professional development module will explore the use of the Individualized Education Program (IEP) as a tool to access the general curriculum in early childhood settings. The module will begin with the young child’s viewpoint on curriculum, proceed to a discussion of the relationship between curriculum and Ohio’s early learning content standards, and conclude with an exploration of how the IEP can be used as a tool to access that curriculum for young children with disabilities. The role of assessment and documentation relative to these processes will also be explored. Participants will be composed of groups representative of the teams used to form and implement IEPs in their settings. More information can be found at http://ecqnet.org/ecq/ProfDev/oelcs/index.cfm Pre-Kindergarten/Kindergarten State Institutes for Reading Intervention (Pre-K/K SIRI).
